Browns Socialhouse: A fitting fit-up in Barrhaven

The future location of Browns Socialhouse in Barrhaven needed a facelift and an outdoor patio. This renovation and addition gave it both. Located at 1055 Greenbank Rd., Browns Socialhouse is a Vancouver-based franchise that opened in the summer of 2021.

Drawing on the design themes of the franchise and other locations, the exterior covered patio used exposed structural steel finished in black, exposed concrete, sparse black metal cladding, and ample glass, including the roof covering. A modern, Bauhaus-inspired architectural form creates a simple and distraction-free environment to enjoy food and drink.

An interior makeover using a combination of wood, leather, masonry, and dark metals gives the feeling of relaxation, elegance, and warm calm. Lighting is key in this design, which includes a combination of muted neon signage and Edison-style bulbs to ensure the atmosphere is always right.
